Remote teams - Cybersecurity resourcing requirements in sensitive data projects

Our cooperation with Clockworkx started with exploring the topics of AI data science and ended up with a cooperation on cybersecurity - a core work area for them. How did we get there?

Clockworkx had a challenge of sourcing high quality cost effective cyber security professionals to support their teams working in highly sensitive data environments. This further meant that providing the right resources who were both knowledgeable and could provide training and development for internal teams was critical.

We engaged Clockworkx via our trusted network in Germany and included several visits to meet with leadership and personnel at both their offices in Ottobrunn and around Germany. After numerous discussions and ideas we kicked off a pilot which resulted in an ongoing partnership providing cybersecurity services to Clockworkx. Clockworkx found our resources both highly skilled and very cost effective leveraging a flexible tiered model for engaging resources according to their project needs.

Digital Strategy requirements

Bigabang ("Craft a bigger bang") is a seasoned technology marketing service based in Germany with a strong background in B2B software business growth. Across numerous engagements the most important criteria for Bigabang became the high quality project management and diversity of skill sets needed for various projects. In past engagements what was lacking was a strong PM capability even where the prices were much higher. With SMEtechspace Bigabang was able to match up partner requirements for exceptional PM skills, diversity of talent, and fair price points to work with across numerous projects dealing with large scale website revamps, creatives including video, paid media, generative Ai powered app development, and hubspot technical services.

Legacy application overhaul and remote teams requirement

LCA were looking for a support function to help revamp their tech platform. The challenge was that because it was built some time ago the stack was quite diverse in its mix of technologies. Finding the right talent to fit this stack was proving to be a challenge as there was also the need to have newer skillsets for the revamp work.

LCA turned to SMEtechspace and we were able to shortlist two partners for the maintenance/revamp project both presenting different technical and resourcing approaches to the challenges faced. As price was also a clear decision making factor LCA was able to narrow this to a single partner.

The differentiators were that LCA were able to not only find the diverse stack specific resources they needed but also those with prior background in logistics ERP solutions matching their domain. Additionally, the chosen partner was able to structure the resourcing package with skills such as CTO input, devops and cloud infrastructure to compliment LCA’s future requirements for their revamp roadmap.

Some of the challenges for LCA were that they would need to run remote teams in 3 countries with the new addition and culture fit was an issue. Given the close operational timezones these challenges were overcome leveraging communication technologies and various project tools and processes that helped move the project forward. As the scope grew LCA added on further requirements to supplement the support agreement.

Remote Team Requirement

When we initially spoke with pospulse their challenge was around recruiting the right Ruby on Rails talent to support their backend and maintenance work. The CTO was facing challenges to source the right type of candidate and he outlined the needs on our initial call.

From this first meeting SMEtechspace was able to source several candidates from its partner network that would fit the profile and budget considerations. The challenge was always on the communications match for smooth remote work and this was something we kept in mind as we sourced the candidates. As all candidates are full time employees at our partner firms SMEtechspace was able to source the candidates quite rapidly.

There are numerous technically competent candidates however when it comes to communication and reporting the list becomes very short as these are high level skills associated with more mature candidates who have worked in international remote team environments.

Upon selecting a candidate we were able to craft a pilot period to trial them out and then proceed to a longer term agreement for Pospulse.
